Q: Why does Bluecorn Candles use 100% pure beeswax for their candles?

A: Bluecorn Candles crafts their candles exclusively from 100% pure beeswax, a natural and clean-burning alternative to paraffin wax. Paraffin, a byproduct of petroleum refining, can release harmful toxins when burned. In contrast, beeswax candles emit minimal smoke and help purify indoor air. Additionally, beeswax has a higher melting point, resulting in longer-lasting candles that are better for both your home and the environment. 

Q: What does a raw beeswax candle smell like?

A: Raw beeswax candles have a naturally sweet aroma reminiscent of honey and the flowers from which the bees collected nectar. This subtle, pleasant scent is unique to beeswax and cannot be replicated artificially. 

Q: Are Bluecorn's beeswax candles scented with essential oils or synthetic fragrances?

A: Bluecorn offers both unscented and scented beeswax candles. Their scented beeswax candles are infused with 100% pure essential oils and plant-based botanicals, avoiding synthetic fragrances that often contain harmful chemicals like phthalates. This ensures a natural and safe aromatic experience.

A: For those seeking a more robust scent throw, Bluecorn's Aromática line is ideal. These candles are made with a blend of plant-based waxes, including coconut and a touch of soy, allowing for higher concentrations of fragrance. While they do use carefully selected synthetic fragrances, these are phthalate-free and California Prop 65 compliant, ensuring a cleaner burn. 

Q: What makes Bluecorn’s candle dyes safe?

A: Bluecorn uses EVO liquid dyes, which are suspended in a vegetable oil base rather than petroleum. These dyes are California Prop 65 and REACH compliant, free from harmful chemicals, and suitable for individuals with chemical sensitivities. 

Q: Why do beeswax candles have a more subtle scent compared to traditional scented candles?

A: Beeswax candles scented with essential oils offer a more natural and nuanced fragrance. Unlike candles with synthetic fragrances, which can be overpowering and even contain harmful chemicals, beeswax candles provide a gentle aroma that's safer for indoor environments. For a stronger scent, consider burning larger glassware candles, which allow the essential oils more time to diffuse. 

Q: Are Bluecorn's candles eco-friendly?

A: Yes, Bluecorn Candles is committed to sustainability. Our candles are handcrafted in Colorado using recycled, reusable, and compostable materials whenever possible. We source our beeswax from U.S. beekeepers, using cappings beeswax—a sustainable byproduct of the honey harvest that leaves the comb intact for bees to reuse. Additionally, Bluecorn participates in tree-planting programs to offset our packaging and we engage in carbon sequestration efforts to offset shipping emissions. 

We use nontoxic, eco-friendly materials like bees wax, coconut wax and essential oils to create our candles. We offer glass candle holders made from recycled glass and fully home-compostable refill kits for our scented candles. 

Q: What’s the difference between your pure beeswax line and your scented / refill lines?

A: Our pure beeswax line is made with 100% pure beeswax and a cotton wick. We offer a wide variety of types of pure beeswax candles, from our Hand-Dipped Beeswax Tapers to Pure Beeswax Tea Lights, Votive and Pillar Candles. We also offer custom beeswax refill candles for our jar candles and tea lights. Pure beeswax candles are a wonderful option if you're seeking ultra-clean, natural and long-lasting candlelight.

Our non toxic scented candle line, Bluecorn Aromática, is made with coconut wax, which doesn't bring it's own fragrance to the mix and can hold a higher fragrance load for stronger scent while burning. We use extremely high-quality, clean fragrance oils that are Prop 65 compliant and always phthalate-free, for luxurious scents that fill the room without overpowering. We've developed nine unique scented candles, each inspired by a different facet of the western Colorado landscape we call home.

Q: Can I refill my candle vessel or reuse it?

Please do! We strive to make candle vessels and holders that you'll want to reuse again and again.

Q: What if my candle arrives damaged or has issues?

We've been perfecting the art of craft candle making for over three decades and guarantee our candles will burn beautifully with proper care.

If your candle isn't burning as expected, please reach out to us right away and our friendly candle nerds will help you troubleshoot. If your candle is defective or arrives damaged, we've got you covered with refund or replacement. 

If your candles arrive and there's nothing wrong with them, you just don't like the scent or otherwise changed your mind, no worries! We're happy to take them back un-burned, we just ask that you cover shipping in those cases.

Q: How do I choose the right candle for me?

A: The right candle for you depends on two principle factors: how long you like to burn candles for and whether or not you want your candle to have a scent. 

If you enjoy burning candles for a long time, say all day or all evening, then larger (aka wider) candles are a great fit for you. Try our 3" dia. pure beeswax pillars or large Aromática if your seeking scented. 

If you like shorter burns, say a half hour while you're meditating or an hour over dinner, then you'll want narrower candles. Our pure beeswax tapers are a great, flexible option, as are pure beeswax tea lights.

Q: Do you offer wholesale candles, tax-exemption or custom options?
